Now, I don’t usually mind the smell of vinegar, but some find it unpleasant. One way to add a more pleasant scent as well as more disinfecting properties to your cleaner is to infuse your vinegar with orange, using orange peals that you would most likely throw away. If you put them on your compost, you can still do that after they are used for your vinegar.
- 1 Pint size Jar with seal and lid (or plastic jar lid), or any repurposed food jar, rinsed well and cleaned with vinegar.
- peels from 2 oranges, or enough to loosely fill jar (lemon peals will also work)
- white distilled vinegar
- (optional: essential oils such as tea tree, lemon, etc)
Spray on area to be cleaned and wipe off. In areas such as kitchen or bathroom, let solution sit for a few moments before wiping to be sure to kill the bacteria present. You may also use to wash your fruits and vegetables.
Use vinegar for surface mold cleaning, just spray and let dry. Use vinegar to similarly disinfect your cutting boards (or for meat use wood cutting boards and then microwave to disinfect. plastic will not disinfect in the microwave).
